Our Liverpool and Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern often don’t see eye-to-eye and one of today’s stories has certainly generated some ill-feeling.
That’s because today marks Fernando Torres’ birthday and, naturally, that’s reminded all supporters of that momentous day in 2011 that saw the Spaniard switch the Reds for the Blues.
Indeed, at that point the striker was marked as a traitor by many Liverpool fans but since things have mellowed towards him, even if the dislike between the clubs is still pretty strong.
Certainly, had Torres been more successful individually at least things may be different but despite winning the Champions League with the Blues, there is a real respect from Liverpool fans for him in the main now.
