Newcastle supporters in the Transfer Tavern are delighted by the news that their former midfielder is poised to become the new Gillingham manager.
Magpies legend Nolberto Solano – more commonly referred to as Nobby Solano – is primed to become the latest Gillingham boss according to Team Talk.
The 42-year-old is considered somewhat of a cult hero on Tyneside having played 314 games for Newcastle scoring 48 goals. He was also an experienced international having amassed 95 caps for Peru.
Newcastle wasn’t the only English team that Solano played for, he featured for Aston Villa, West Ham United, Hull City, Leicester City and Hartlepool United.
In addition to his impressive career, Solano has attained some managerial experience having managed Universitario, José Gálvez and Internacional de Toronto.
Our resident Newcastle United supporters are delighted for their former Peruvian star. Accordingly, it’s worthwhile to take to Twitter to observe the Toon Army’s reaction to the latest news.
