Jamaal Lascelles
Jamaal Lascelles has been captain fantastic so far this season for the Magpies, as he never fails to lead by example having produced some high-quality performances at the heart of Newcastle’s defence.
Indeed, the former Nottingham Forest defender has almost been as effective as some of the club’s strikers, with three Premier League goals to his name from a defensive position.
Therefore, it’s crucial that Lascelles can continue to display his leadership qualities at a critical time, with Newcastle United’s survival hopes very much depending on how the Englishman performs from here on in.
Jonjo Shelvey
Jonjo Shelvey has been one of the most consistent performers for Newcastle United so far this season, acting as the anchorman in the middle of the park.
Although the Englishman currently has no goals or assists to show for his efforts thus far, he’s excelled at forcing the opposition into mistakes and linking defence with attack.
Indeed, Newcastle are in a spot of bother with Shelvey currently sidelined through injury, but upon his return, he will no doubt have a huge part to play in the remainder of the Magpies’ season.
