‘Another own goal’ – Newcastle fans aren’t happy at all after latest player report

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t happy with their club’s valuation of World Cup-bound striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic. The club have slapped a £20 million price tag on his head, according to Sky Sports News, but the fans aren’t happy as they’d rather of waited until after the World Cup to give the striker a valuation.

The decision to give the Serbian striker a valuation before the World Cup could be one that comes back to bite the club. Mitrovic has a good goalscoring record for his national side and with three games in the group stages against Costa Rica, Switzerland and Brazil plus whatever may come afterwards for the striker, a good tournament for the star could see clubs come swooping in.

If this is the case and Mitrovic bags a couple of goals with the whole world watching, a fee of just £20 million could look like peanuts for some of Europe’s bigger clubs, making Newcastle look silly for pricing up their man prior to the tournament. Either way, Newcastle will be looking to offload the young hot-headed striker and with Fulham likely chasing his signature after his successful loan spell last season, the £20 million going into St James Park could prove very useful, at least.

The Newcastle fans in the Tavern can feely rightly aggrieved by their club’s decision to jump the gun and slap a price tag on Mitrovic, as they could be set to lose out if the striker goes on to do great things this summer.
