According to Don Balon in Spain, Chelsea and Arsenal could make a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The potential news has been more than welcomed by both our Gunners and Blues fans here in the Transfer Tavern who know exactly what kind of player the French forward is.
Benzema has led the line brilliantly for Los Blancos over the past few years scoring a huge amount of goals alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale whilst he’s also won the Champions League and La Liga during his time there.
His career at the Bernabeu could be coming to and end, though, and the report suggests two of this country’s biggest clubs are ready to try and bring him in.
They would have to pay at least €50 million (£42.2 million) for his services which our landlord thinks, given his age of 28, is just about value for money given his talent.
What will have to be considered should any deal be sanctioned, though, is that he will not have much of a sell-on value and so both clubs would hope if they got him for instant success.
