Arsenal and Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their hopes of big signings in January boosted after it was revealed a defensive target wants to move to the Premier League.
Metro state the Gunners are keen on Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti and the French U21 international is open to a Premier League switch.
Meanwhile, The Daily Express states Chelsea are also interested in the renowned defender; meaning the Premier League duo could go toe-to-toe in the New Year.
Both clubs received a boost from the player, after he admitted a transfer to England interests him.
‘I’m very ambitious, I have quite a few goals, but I’ve still got many things to learn with Lyon. Going abroad is a dream, there are very great clubs that you dream about. England? Everyone admires that league.’
Whilst Lyon aren’t likely to want to sell, Chelsea fans in the bar are declaring this is a signing their club needs and believe he would provide a cheaper alternative to Everton’s John Stones or Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos.
On the other hands, Arsenal fans are happy to wait until after January as they believe he’d be a good addition but should be a long-term target for the time being.
