Fans of Arsenal and Chelsea in the Transfer Tavern have been stunned by reports which state the two London clubs are set to be handed transfer bans.
The Catalan side are nearing the end of a two-window transfer ban that saw their 2015 activity affected massively, although they still managed to purchase Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan in the summer- though neither can feature until the New Year.
FIFA are confident of pushing the bans through after Barcelona had an appeal with the Court of Arbitration in Sport turned down, which set a precedent for potential cases involving Arsenal and Chelsea.
If the charge goes ahead, it would unlikely to be effective immediately and January business would not be affected. However, the summer’s spending would come into scrutiny.
