We love a good tug of war here in the Football Transfer Tavern and Fantix has provided us with one, claiming that Arsenal and Chelsea are set to battle it out for the ‘new Didier Drogba’ this summer.
Both clubs are considering making a move for Wilfried Bony who has long been linked with a move to the Premier League. It had been thought that Andre Villas-Boas and Tottenham were also interested in the forward, yet this seems to have cooled somewhat of late.
What does seem clear is the fact that both Chelsea and Arsenal are on the hunt for several players this summer and the chance to sign Bony could well be too much of an opportunity to turn down.
The player himself is under contract until 2015 and this will mean that a significant fee will be asked for him, yet given the player’s obvious desire to make a move to the Premier League not to mention his clear quality – netting 37 goals in only 32 matches for his club Vitesse Arnhem, a move is on the cards this season.
