Said Benrahma has caught the eye of a number of ex-Arsenal players who have recommended the Brentford winger to the Emirates Stadium hierarchy, according to France Football via Get French Football News.
The French publication claims that the former players ‘whispered his name to the club’s board’ in order to persuade the powerbrokers to complete a move for the attacker.
The attacker has been on fire for the Bees this season and a move for the relatively young player would be a smart one from Arsenal’s point of view.
The Algeria international averages a mammoth 3.7 shots and 2.3 key passes per Championship game this season, more than any of Mikel Arteta’s men average in the Premier League, as per WhoScored. Indeed, having more than three shots per game shows that he is a huge threat to opposition teams and it proves to be even more impressive as he is a right-winger rather than an out-and-out number nine.
Given the performances of the Brentford ace, the lack of experienced wingers at the club and the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Benrahma would be a smart signing. After all, his displays in the attacking third highlight just how much quality he possesses.
Added to that, whilst Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have impressed this campaign, it could be foolish to rely on the duo should Lacazette and Aubameyang depart the club.
