Arsenal have enjoyed a steady start to the Premier League this season. They currently sit in 4th place, which is a position that is very familiar to them, and have consistently played exciting and impressive football so far this season.
A lot of emphasis has been placed on securing deals for the future at the Emirates so far this season, with some pretty in-depth discussions taking place in the Football Transfer Tavern surrounding the long-term future of the likes of Arsene Wenger, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The Arsenal fans in the Tavern have been patiently awaiting any news of a new deal – and today they finally got it. The bad news for them, though, is that it has nothing to do with the trio of Wenger, Ozil and Sanchez.
As confirmed on Arsenal’s official website, highly-rated goalkeeper Emi Martinez has signed a new long-term deal at the club, having made his breakthrough in the Arsenal first team this year.
He has largely played behind the likes of Ospina and Cech thus far, but a run in the League Cup has proved his quality – and at just 24 years old, the Arsenal fans in the Tavern are expecting big things.
With Petr Cech now 34-years-old, and Ospina lacking the quality required to be Arsenal’s number 1 – our landlord is touting Martinez to have a big future at the Emirates…
