Arsenal’s season has taken a noticeable turn in recent weeks.
Not long ago, the Gunners were dreaming of an unprecedented quadruple, but defeats in the EFL Cup final to Manchester City and a shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Southampton have narrowed their ambitions.
While Premier League and Champions League success would still mark a strong campaign, the recent dip has already prompted thoughts of strengthening the squad ahead of next season.
With that in mind, Arsenal have now made an early move in the market, reaching out over a potential deal for one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers.
Arsenal Make Diomande Contact
Arsenal have initiated contact with representatives of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande as they explore a possible summer move, according to Caught Offside.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international — described as “outstanding” by Leipzig managing director Marcel Schäfer — has enjoyed a superb campaign, registering 11 goals and eight assists across all competitions. His performances have attracted significant interest from across Europe, with Liverpool also long linked.
One source revealed: “Arsenal have reached out to those around Diomande to be kept informed over his future. That doesn’t mean a bid or an offer is imminent or definitely going to happen, but it’s a position they’re looking to strengthen and he’s appreciated by their recruitment team.”
Another added: “Diomande is Liverpool’s preferred Salah replacement, but the reality is that they’ll struggle to get him without Champions League football, and there is a huge amount of interest from all over Europe, with Arsenal very much in the race.”
Champions League football is believed to be a key factor in Diomande’s decision-making, potentially giving Arsenal an advantage if they secure qualification. However, the youngster has yet to make a final call on his future and could still opt to remain at Leipzig, who are also pushing for a top-four finish.
With interest mounting and his stock continuing to rise, Diomande is shaping up to be one of the most in-demand young forwards this summer.
Arsenal’s early approach signals clear intent, but whether they can win the race may ultimately depend on their ability to secure Champions League football — and move quickly in what is becoming an increasingly competitive market.
