Arsenal drop out of transfer pursuit?

juliocesar.jpgYesterday in the Football Transfer Tavern there was bad news for Arsenal as it was claimed that Hamburg’s Rene Adler was set to reject the chance of a move to the club and now it seems another move for QPR’s Julio Cesar may also be off if Give Me Football are to be believed.

It had been thought that Arsene Wenger was considering a move for the Brazilian international keeper as he would bring the experience, quality while remaining fairly cheap proving ideal for the Gunners. Now however it seems that Wenger may have cooled on the idea of a move after Harry Redknapp claimed that the manager has not been in contact.

Redknapp noted to West London Sport that: “Julio is the Brazilian national goalkeeper and obviously [he] wants to play at the top level.

“It [QPR’s relegation] is a problem for him. He wants to play for Brazil in the [2014] World Cup and playing in the Championship is not going to help him.”

But asked about the possibilities of Cesar joining Arsenal, Redknapp appeared to turn down any sign of positivity in the idea: “Where’s he going? Arsenal?

“Maybe. [But] Arsene Wenger’s never phoned me.”

Will Arsenal turn their attentions to another goalkeeper or will they stick with Szczesny? Let us know your thoughts below.
