Arsenal: Emiliano Martinez posts on Instagram following North London derby defeat

One of the only Arsenal players who could keep their head held high following the North London derby defeat to Tottenham was Emiliano Martinez.

The goalkeeper made seven saves to keep the Gunners in the tie and picked up a 7.7 rating, (the third best of any Arsenal player who started), per SofaScore.

He has received a lot of praise since filling in for Bernd Leno who got injured in the 2-1 loss against Brighton, and the 27 year-old had only made six appearances in the Premier League, per Transfermarkt, despite the fact that he has been at the club for ten years. Since that Brighton match, Martinez has played five games in the division, kept three clean sheets and conceded three goals.

The Spurs game was his first defeat, and the Argentinian showed how much the loss frustrated him as he posted a picture of himself during the match supported with the caption, ‘This one hurts’.

Many supporters clearly will be pleased to see that the player cares a lot about the club, and this has seen many flock to the post to support Martinez and praise him for his performances so far.

This is good to see and is likely to mean a lot to the goalkeeper, who will be hoping the team can make things right in their next fixture.
