The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern don’t know what to make of this deal…
Cesc Fabregas has had a tough few months, and since the arrival of Antonio Conte – he has seen his role in the Chelsea first team diminish significantly.
A formation switch has seen Conte opt for Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante in favour of the more attacking-minded Fabregas – and as a result, a few of the Chelsea fans in the Tavern have touted the Spaniard for a Stamford Bridge departure.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, but it would appear that he will have no shortage of suitors – with one hugely surprising club reportedly eyeing a move.
According to the Express, Arsenal could look to move for Cesc Fabregas – with midfield dynamo Santi Cazorla expected to miss 3 months through injury.
Fabregas and Arsenal are, of course, familiar with each other – with the 29-year-old playing for the Gunners prior to his move to Barcelona in 2011.
The proposed move has prompted a bit of a mixed response from the Arsenal faithful in the Tavern – many of whom have not forgiven the Spaniard for his controversial Arsenal departure, or his perhaps even more controversial move to Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea.
Our landlord thinks that whilst Fabregas has not played much for Chelsea this season, he still has the quality to excel in the Premier League – and if Conte isn’t going to pick him, an Arsenal move could make sense.
The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern don’t want to see the Spaniard leave, though, especially after his Man City masterclass at the weekend.
Fabregas has made, shockingly, just 2 Premier League starts this season.
