Arsenal fans are begging the club to start Calum Chambers after the central defender’s goalscoring cameo in the 3-2 victory over Aston Villa.
The tweets come after the club’s official Twitter account tweeted out a clip of the Englishman’s goal against the Villans.
Chambers, who is valued at £12.6m by Transfermarkt, was a second-half substitution from Unai Emery after the Gunners had gone down to ten men after the sending off of Ainsley Maitland-Niles late in the first-half (via BBC).
Arsenal have only kept two clean sheets this season in games away to Newcastle United and Eintracht Frankfurt, both games the central defender has started and finished (via Transfermarkt).
The 23-year-old’s performances are even more impressive when you consider the club have only conceded one goal in the 224 minutes the centre-back has played this season.
Fans were quick to plead with the north London giants about Chambers starting as they took to Twitter to give their reactions, with one supporter even claiming he’s the ‘next’ Martin Keown, who has been described as ‘one of the club’s greatest defenders’ (as per Arsenal).
Here is a selection of tweets from the Arsenal fans:
