Arsenal fans have reacted after news emerged following the 2-2 draw against north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to leave the Emirates Stadium today.
It is being reported by football.london’s James Benge that the Armenian winger is on his way to Rome to complete a season-long loan move to AS Roma.
The Arsenal correspondent is also reporting that Roma will pay most of Mkhitaryan’s wages as well as a loan fee.
Also, AS Roma’s official Twitter account has since posted a picture of him undergoing his medical.
Mkhitaryan, who has 84 caps to his name for Armenia, made a substitute appearance in Arsenal’s draw yesterday as the Gunners came back from two goals down to rescue a point, dropping out of the top four in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old’s time at Arsenal has largely been a disappointment, with Mkhitaryan scoring and assisting just 22 goals in more than 55 appearances (via Transfermarkt).
Fans were overjoyed at the news of a move for the attacker to the Serie A side and took to Twitter to give their reactions.
Here is a selection of tweets from Gooners:
