Pepe had struggled up until yesterday’s game, scoring just one goal in his first 11 matches in all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

The two goals followed the winger’s miss in the loss against Sheffield United from less than seven yards out after he was teed up by Sead Kolasinac (via BBC).

He had been criticised by both fans and pundits for his early-season struggles, with Roy Keane blasting him for his lack of body language.

However, the mood seems to have shifted, with Unai Emery lauding the Ivory Coast international following the game, claiming the 24-year-old’s confidence is boosted as a result (BT Sport via Football365). Former Arsenal hot-shot Robin van Persie hailed Pepe, claiming this was his moment (BT Sport via Daily Mail)

Fans were over the moon following his two goals against Vitoria which saw the north London giants maintain their 100% record in the Europa League this season as they took to Twitter to react.
