Many Arsenal fans are ecstatic at the news that Kieran Tierney is ‘back in full training’ (via Arsenal.com).
The Scotsman has been out injured ever since he awkwardly landed on his right shoulder in the Gunners’ 3-1 victory away at West Ham United back in December (match report via BBC). It was incidentally caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg’s first win in charge after Unai Emery was sacked, both of whom have now been replaced by Mikel Arteta.
Tierney has only managed 12 appearances in all competitions (via Transfermarkt) for the north-London club this season after his £25 million move from Celtic in the summer (Sky Sports). He had injury problems at the Scottish champions too, and Gooners will be hoping he can remain injury-free for the rest of the season.
One player that has not been so lucky is Lucas Torreira. The Uruguayan has sustained a fracture to his right ankle that he picked up from Monday night’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Portsmouth (via Arsenal.com). The club has stated in the same update that he will have to await further specialist reviews which will ‘determine his recovery plan’.
Whilst the Torreira injury is a blow to the Gooners, these fans have expressed their delight at the positive Tierney injury update, with one fan exclaiming he ‘can’t wait’ for the full-back to return:
