Arsenal fans were feeling optimistic after former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure commented on Mikel Arteta.

Have Arsenal made a mistake in not pursuing Ancelotti?

For sure

For sure

Arteta's the man

Arteta's the man

The Ivory Coast international claimed that the Spaniard is ‘very smart’ and praised him for all that he has achieved in the game. He also went on to say that he thinks he will be ‘good, good, good’ for the club because the Gunners need ‘a new mind and a new setup’ (via AP).

Arteta seems to be on the brink of being appointed as the new head coach after it was reported by ESPN that an announcement could be today.

His last game for the Citizens could prove to be last night’s 3-1 win over Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.

It was a victory that saw City set up Manchester derby in the semi-finals of the competition after they were drawn against United, who beat Colchester United 3-0.

Arsenal fans were full of optimism after the comments from Toure as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:

Arteta will win double this season.
