It wouldn’t be a proper international break if an Arsenal player didn’t get injured, and Granit Xhaka made sure to fulfil this prophecy in the final round of games.
The Swiss international had an interesting night on Tuesday. The Arsenal midfielder put Switzerland 2-0 up against Denmark with a trademark screamer in the 66th minute, however, the former Borussia Monchengladbach captain was forced off 10 minutes from time with a reported thigh injury.
Switzerland, despite being 3-0 up when Xhaka came off, went on to draw 3-3 with Denmark scoring three very late goals in the final five minutes of the game to seal an incredible result for the Scandinavian side.
Xhaka is now a doubt for Arsenal’s crucial Monday night game against Newcastle United, with a win a must for Unai Emery’s side who are now back in the race for Champions League football following impressive results against Tottenham and Manchester United.
Naturally, this has led to a significant bout of reaction online, with lots of Arsenal fans taking to Twitter to highlight their frustration. See what they’ve had to say below:

Hope it is all media stunt about that Granit Xhaka injury

Ramsey and Xhaka injured playing for their respective countries. The United States’s (arguably?) 2 best players, or at least midfielders, get injured playing friendlies. Why the hell is international football still a thing?
