A lot of Arsenal fans on Twitter have been having their say on the future of Mesut Ozil. Normally that would entail transfer rumours and debating his next club, but in this case, it’s whether he will ever turn out for Die Mannschaft again after Sky Germany has claimed the 29-year-old could be set to quit the national team.
BREAKING: Sky Germany | Mesut Ozil will NOT be playing again for Germany. Meeting with Erdogan has ‘burnt all bridges.’
— LTArsenal (@ltarsenal) 9 July 2018
Mesut Ozil was part of the German World Cup squad that became the first in history to get knocked out of football’s biggest tournament at the group stages. This is a tournament of firsts as never before has a World Cup not had one of either Germany or Brazil in the last four and it’s also the first time that England have played more matches in a World Cup than Germany. However, all of this has come at a major cost for Mesut Ozil.
The German playmaker who he plies his trade in London with Arsenal had a controversial meeting with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the German people didn’t take kindly to it, as Ozil’s Turkish roots came back to bite him as the meeting was seen as a lack of loyalty. Fast forward to now and the German national team have bombed out of Russia and things have got no easier for the Arsenal man who has been scapegoated for Germany’s failings and it could spell the end of the ex-Real Madrid man’s international career.
You can see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter think about Ozil here:
i don’t blame him if he he never plays again, he’s so under appreciated

We’ll see what happens when he breaks all assist records next season and wins the Player of the Year award

They don't deserve Ozil anyway. I guess the same applies to Gundogan as well?

The Arsenal fans are 100% behind Ozil in this debacle and would support him fully if decided to quit the national team.
