Yesterday, as Arsenal took to the pitch to take on Burnley at Turf Moor, the fans would have been desperate to get through the 90 minutes without any more injuries to any of their defenders. However, the win came at a cost as Nacho Monreal was substituted in the first-half with some kind of knock.
Injury forced @_nachomonreal off in the first half of #ARSBUR – but what’s the latest on him?
Here’s @UnaiEmery_ with an update…

That injury to the Spaniard now means that Unai Emery has entire back five of injured players. Monreal joins Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding and Konstantinos Mavropanos on the list of defenders who are currently sidelined, and with a clash against Liverpool on the horizon that doesn’t look good.
With a bit of luck, the Gunners experienced Spanish fullback will be back sooner rather than later, especially seeing as the festive football is now coming thick and fast. Unai Emery takes his side to Brighton and the Liverpool on Boxing Day and the on the 29th December, and the more injuries they have the less that they can rotate, making these upcoming fixtures look even harder than they already were.

He was never fully fit to return in the first place, so this shouldn’t take too long

The Gunners are desperate to have Monreal back to fitness and will hope that the Spaniard is available for Liverpool, if not Brighton.
