This season has proven to be another one where, defensively, Arsenal have not been good enough as a collective unit.
Individually, though, in Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who joined the north London club form Borussia Dortmund last summer, the Gunners look to have a very strong defender capable of helping them become a more solid outfit at the back once given the appropriate central defensive partner.
And the 30-year-old could now be about to give his manager Unai Emery a huge boost ahead of a Europa League clash versus BATE Borisov with the club’s official website confirming he is in full training again following an ankle injury.
With qualifying for the Champions League by coming fourth now looking like an even more difficult task for Arsenal considering the form Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Manchester United’s side are in, the Europa League may be Arsenal’s best bet, making the timing of Sokratis’ return perfect.
