Many Arsenal supporters have given credit to left-back Kieran Tierney as he told his teammates to thank the travelling fans as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Gunners found themselves unable to beat the Reds in normal time and they lost 5-4 on penalties after the game finished 5-5 during normal time.
A brace from Gabriel Martinelli and goals from Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock were not enough to topple the European champions and saw Unai Emery’s team bow out of the competition.

After Liverpool scored their decisive spot-kick, the Scotsman urged his teammates to show their appreciation to the Emirates faithful.
Many supporters respected the move from Tierney and directed their acknowledgements towards the former Celtic defender on social media. One fan described him as a man with “elite mentality”, while another said that he is a “future captain” at Arsenal amid all of the speculation surrounding the future of current skipper Granit Xhaka.
