Arsenal: Fans react to Mikel Arteta comments on Champions League football

Many Arsenal fans have reacted to a post from the official Arsenal Twitter page highlighting Mikel Arteta’s comments in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s London derby clash with West Ham United.

A full transcript was provided by Arsenal.com in which the Spanish coach gave his thoughts on a few players at the club including new signing Pablo Mari, who made his long-awaited debut in Monday night’s 2-0 FA Cup round-of-sixteen win over Portsmouth. He also commented on West Ham and David Moyes’ situation, the incident involving Eric Dier confronting a fan for giving his brother a hard time on Wednesday night  and perhaps most intriguingly, his thoughts on whether the Gunners can break into the top five, as fifth place could provide a Champions League spot following the investigation into Manchester City (BBC Sport).

One of his thoughts read: “If game-by-game we go and start grabbing three points and three points and three points, then we’ll have a chance the last three or four games of the season.” Arsenal’s next three games in the league are West Ham (H), Manchester City (A) and Brighton (A). It may be tough for the north-London club to get nine points but it would certainly boost their hopes of CL football for next season. These fans took different perspectives on the challenge ahead, with one fan even claiming that Arsenal are ‘in no fit state for Champions League football’:
