Arsenal fans were left berating the board after it emerged that some of the Gunners’ ‘top brass’ wanted to award manager Unai Emery a new contract after last season.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, a section of the Gunners hierarchy wanted to reward Emery with a new deal last summer, however, a majority verdict managed to sway the decision.
The north London giants narrowly missed out on Champions League football having finished outside the top four by just one point and losing in the Europa League final.
However, the Gunners have endured an abysmal run of form this season, winning neither of their last two games in the Premier League, raising doubts over his position as manager.
Fans berated the board after the decision to almost award Emery a new contract emerged from Ornstein’s report as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
Conclusion: the club is split at the very top. This is bad corporate governance. Will end in tears.
