Arsenal: Fans reminisce over this game during the 49-game unbeaten run

Arsenal fans have been reminiscing over the 49th and final game of their famous unbeaten run back during the 2004/2005 season.

The Gunners comfortably beat Aston Villa 3-1 on that occasion with Thierry Henry and Robert Pires getting the goals for the north London side.

Lee Hendrie put the Villians ahead with a stunning strike from outside of the area before Pires levelled from the penalty spot after Henry was fouled.

Arsenal’s record goalscorer then put the Arsene Wenger’s side 2-1 up before Pires sealed three points with a smart low drive for the third goal (via BBC).

The unbeaten run would then be ended eight days later in controversial fashion with a 2-0 loss away to fierce rivals Manchester United.

Arsenal’s unbeaten run saw them go through the entire 2003/2004 season without losing a game, as they became the first side since Preston North End in 1888/1889 to achieve the feat.
