Last night saw Arsenal bailout of the FA Cup against Manchester United at home. The Gunners fell to a 3-1 defeat against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, and it’s a game they’ll be gutted to have lost. However, it could have been a very different game if they hadn’t lost Sokratis Papastathopoulos to injury so early in the first half.
Get well soon, Papa

The Greek centre-half succumbed to injury after just 20 minutes, needing to be replaced by Shkodran Mustafi after landing awkwardly on his ankle having challenged for an aerial ball. It seems evident that Sokratis is the main man at the back for the Gunners, and again yesterday they struggled as soon as he was hooked, with Manchester United quickly going 2-0 up within 12 minutes of him going off.
With Sokratis going off injured in the first half, it was then Laurent Koscielny who came off injured in the second half and the fans will be fuming over their luck. However, with Sokratis proving to be the main man in their defence since he was brought into the club by Unai Emery over the summer, they’ll be gutted to potentially have to go through a spell of games without the Greek stopper.
You can read the Gunners’ thoughts on the Sokratis’ injury here:
Very clearly a popular figure amongst the players, hopefully it’s not too serious.

Right back and centre back needed urgently. Can be on loan.

Another defender is down. What’s really going on? Maybe we should recall Callum Chambers from loan, if we are not going to get replacements

The Gunners will be gutted to lose Sokratis to injury and will hope the Greek defender can make a swift recovery.
