Arsenal fans have been voicing their displeasure after the club were linked with a move for a Norwegian defender who plays for Olympiakos.
According to The Guardian, the Gunners enquired about right-back Omar Elabdellaoui, however, were put off by the price being quoted by the Greek team. The publication also claimed that Arsenal’s Europa League opponents didn’t want to sell the player to a team they would be facing.
When compared to the club’s right-backs, Elabdellaoui averaged a higher pass accuracy in the Champions League than Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles did in the Europa League, as per WhoScored. It seems as though the north London outfit had a back-up plan after they confirmed the signing of experienced Premier League fullback Cedric Soares from Southampton on a loan deal.
