A few of the Arsenal fans in the pub have been discussing how they think Arsene Wenger could take his side to the next level, and the answer for them is obvious: a few new signings.
They feel that Arsenal need a few marquee signings this month in order to take them to the next level, and with the January transfer window closing in a couple of weeks – Arsene Wenger is running out of time to get a few deals done.
With that said, Arsenal fans would be thrilled if Wenger could snap up 1 of these 3 players next week…
Virgil van Dijk
Arsenal have a pretty strong first team, but arguably their weakest area is the defence.
The duo of Koscielny and Mustafi are solid, but beyond that – Arsenal have very little central defensive depth, and this is something that Wenger could look to change.
Virgil van Dijk would be a great option, given that he has Premier League experience and has emerged as one of the Premier League’s finest defenders in recent months.
Comfortable on the ball, strong in the tackle and dominant in the air, van Dijk is the complete defender – and he would improve Arsenal’s defensive line ten-fold.
Dimitri Payet
His actions off-the-field may not have been received too well in the Transfer Tavern, but there is no doubting the quality that Dimitri Payet has.
The Frenchman is one of the Premier League’s finest players, and his impressive set pieces were vital as West Ham cruised in the Premier League last season.
He is getting on and approaching 30-years-old, but this is about Arsene Wenger achieving immediate success; and no player would have as quick an impact as Payet.
Alexandre Lacazette
The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have wanted Alexandre Lacazette to join the club for years, and now is the perfect time to make that happen.
He has been on fire in Ligue 1, whilst uncertainty over Arsenal’s strike force has been a running theme throughout this season so far.
He would be expensive and a tough signing to get done – but the end result is surely worth the cost. He is prolific, and a goalscorer is just what Arsenal need right now.
