Transfer expert Dean Jones has hinted that reported Arsenal striker target Dusan Vlahovic could leave Juventus in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Contact made

It was reported earlier this month that Edu and the Gunners have contacted the Serbian's representatives, targeting a move in January due to the nature of the injury suffered by Gabriel Jesus.

Amid Juventus’ financial uncertainty, talks were ongoing throughout the World Cup in Qatar, with the Serie A giants bracing to lose some of their star players.

The Latest: Vlahovic could move

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has shared that Vlahovic is still on Arsenal's radar after they tried to sign him from Fiorentina last January before he moved to Turin, and Juventus are prepared to entertain offers for their star striker due to their tenuous financial situation.

The journalist said: “We know that Vlahovic has been on Arsenal’s radar because they quite bullishly, in January, tried to sign him, and all it really did was catalyse Juventus’ push to sign Vlahovic earlier.

“And now there’s a feeling from sources that because of Juventus’ uncertain situation, they’re under investigation for alleged financial malpractice, who knows, sporting sanctions are not out of the question, but more importantly because the Italian system allows for all kinds of different appeals.

“So, more important than the actual sporting sanctions is actually just the fact that it’s not thought that Vlahovic is particularly happy under Max Allegri.

“And because of that, I think that he is open to a move and Juventus are, at the same time, quite prepared to entertain offers and see what happens.”

The Verdict: Have faith in Nketiah

Of course, losing Jesus to injury is a big blow for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, but instead of buying another star striker in Vlahovic, they should have faith that Eddie Nketiah can step up in the Brazilian's absence.

The Englishman netted in the 3-1 win against West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night and managed to run the visitors' defence ragged at times, having four shots on goal and winning four of his individual duels (Sofascore).

There is no doubt that Vlahovic would add quality to the Gunners' frontline, having been hailed as a "beast" by journalist Siavoush Fallahi after bagging 98 career goals for club and country combined by the age of 22.

However, Nketiah should be given his chance to impress in Jesus' absence, so the potential money that Arsenal would spend on Vlahovic should be invested elsewhere.
