Arsenal and Edu Gaspar have reportedly made an inquiry over the potential signing of Athletico-PR striker Vitor Roque this summer.

The Lowdown: Roque profiled

Roque is looking to be another big talent to come out of Brazil at the age of just 17, having scored 13 goals and made a further four assists in 52 senior games for his previous two clubs (Transfermarkt).

He has been nicknamed the 'Brazilian Luis Suarez', and has also drawn comparisons to Brazilian legend Ronaldo, who says that Roque will 'fly so high'.

Nonetheless, with comparisons like these already, Roque is sure to be another superstar of the game.

The Latest: Edu inquiry

As per GOAL, Edu has personally contacted Roque's representatives in order to find out more about his situation at Athletico-PR.

They have entered a long race for his signature, with Chelsea, Newcastle United, PSG and FC Barcelona also thought to hold an interest.

However, Athletico-PR are demanding no less than €60m (£53m) to let him go this summer, showing just how highly they rate him.

The Verdict: Trust in Edu

Edu has a track record in terms of buying players from his home country, most notably persuading Gabriel Martinelli to sign in 2019, who was relatively unknown at the time playing in the lower divisions of Brazilian football.

£53m would be a lot to fork out on Roque, who is unproven in Europe, but he certainly has the potential to grow into another Brazilian superstar.

The comparisons to 'R9' show that, and the fact that he is already playing senior men's football at 17 suggests that he should be able to adapt to the Premier League.
