Arsenal are still showing interest in Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser, who could yet stay at the Vitality next season, according to 90min.
The publication are also reporting that the south coast club are willing to offer the Premier League’s shortest player the same pay packet that Callum Wilson was offered back when he signed a new contract in July.
However, Arsenal aren’t the only club thought to be interested in the attacker, with Chelsea, Wolves and Everton thought to hold interest in the Scotland international, whose current contract continues to run down.
Fraser famously rejected a move to Ajax back in 2013 in favour of a move to the south coast.
A move for Fraser on a free transfer could be a shrewd piece of business as it would keep Arsenal’s finances in order, only costing them wages and a signing on bonus.
The recent injury to Alexandre Lacazette exposed a very worrying hole in attacking options for Unai Emery, leaving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe as the only senior forwards at the club. After the duo, Reiss Nelson and Gabriel Martinelli are the only other options, and that is worrying as Nelson has the most top-flight appearances with just three. Signing Fraser would increase the options, while also increasing the quality in forward areas.
The 25-year-old has shown his quality since the start of last season, assisting the joint-second most goals in Europe’s top five leagues (via Bundesliga). Fraser’s ability to play the final pass is what should make him a no-brainer of a signing. Last season, the Bournemouth man played 2.4 key passes per game in the Premier League, more than any other Arsenal player (via WhoScored).
Arsenal have a real lack of forward options outside of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe, and signing Fraser on a free for next season would solve that issue, as well as add quality to the squad.
