For once there are a couple of smiles on the faces of Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern and it is all down to Metro who seem to think the Gunners are keen on a Real Madrid star.
The player in question is Raphael Varane, who seems to be getting a longer and longer list of suitors on a daily basis.
Varane is already on the wishlist of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho who is a long term admirer of the Frenchman and Louis van Gaal, who is considering a £19 million bid to add him to the Manchester United back line.
After seeing his playing time limited at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, Varane would be open to a move- however as one of our punters notes, we think that west London would be a far better option for him than north London – at least whilst Arsene Wenger is at the Emirates!
