The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their sign to invest on deadline day…
It has been a tough start to the season for the Gunners, and whilst much of the campaign is yet to come, many have begun to write off their campaign already.
The only way that Arsenal can turn their season around, in the eyes of our landlord, is by signing a few big name players. There’s a real need for a big boost at the Emirates, and a big money signing could certainly provide that.
However, one player that the Gunners won’t be signing this summer is Riyad Mahrez. Highly-reputable journalist David Ornstein, who is an expert on Arsenal, has been discussing the midfielder on Twitter, and for Arsenal fans that would like the midfielder, it’s not good news.
According to Ornstein, Arsenal have no interest in the Algerian.
The club Riyad Mahrez has left the Algeria squad to sign for is… not Arsenal. #AFC are not in contention for the #LCFC winger #bbcfootball

That means, then, that the mystery club that Mahrez is reportedly preparing to sign for – having left his international camp – is not Arsenal.
No word on who that side could be, but Arsenal’s focus appears to be elsewhere, much to the frustration of the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
Indeed, Arsenal look set to have a very quiet end to the window – bringing optimism amongst fans in the Transfer Tavern to an all time low.
Landlord’s Verdict
Mahrez had somewhat of an off-year last season, but he was awarded the Player of the Year trophy during Leicester City’s remarkable 2015-16 title-winning campaign.
His incredible playmaking ability and fine dribbling technique has made him quite the favourite in the Transfer Tavern.
Given that, his signing would have been a welcomed one amongst Arsenal fans, but it doesn’t appear likely.
Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham are said to be keen on the midfielder, and so it is they that could look to benefit from his quality.
Arsenal, meanwhile, look on course for a disappointing end to the summer.
