Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are bracing themselves for an exciting finale to the season, where they hope they can end their long wait for a Premier League crown and give Barcelona a tough test in the Champions League.
Looking into the summer, our punters want some big signings to be made and they’re excited to hear about a report linking them to one of the Premier League’s brightest young stars.
The Daily Mirror state Arsenal are eying an £8m swoop for West Ham United prodigy Reece Oxford, who starred for the Hammers on the first day of the season as they secured a shock victory against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have watched the 17-year-old since before his days in East London and have continued to track the teenager this season, where he has been promoted to West Ham’s first-team squad.
Whilst Oxford still has two-and-a-half-years remaining on his contract, his first-team chances at West Ham have decreased significantly since October and that could play into Arsenal’s hands.
Arsenal have a strong defence, boasting the likes of Gabriel Paulista, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, but Oxford could be developed into a crucial part of the side for the future.
Our landlord would love to see his happen and is hopeful a deal can be concluded when the transfer window reopens.
Arsenal fans, would Oxford be a decent signing? Let us know in the comments below!
