Arsenal reportedly growing confident of sealing record-breaking deal

Despite seeing their side progress into the semi-finals of the FA Cup over the course of the weekend, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern really could do with some cheering up to say the very least.

Life’s not exactly great at the Emirates right now as the futures of Arsene Wenger and Alexis Sanchez remain uncertain, though Mesut Ozil’s comments to German outlet Bild (via the Daily Mail) have proved somewhat promising at least.

The World Cup winner’s dwindling contract has been the topic of debate for months now and, like the aforementioned Sanchez, has been linked with a move away. In fact, Wenger’s future in north London has previously been suggested as something that could impact Ozil’s future at the Emirates going forward.

Still, his comments to Bild seem to suggest talks are ongoing between the parties and the former Real Madrid hints Wenger’s future may not hold the only key.

‘Everything is open. We had talks with Arsenal. Right now I concentrate on the current season,’ he says.

‘Arsene Wenger was one of the main reasons I joined Arsenal. But I know that sometimes things go very fast in football and that you can never plan something.

‘This is why it would be wrong to say that my future depends on my coach.’

Also, Sportsmail further hints that there is growing a confidence Ozil will pen a new deal, a contract that may make him the club’s highest ever paid player on £200k-per-week. Still, our Arsenal fans are hoping his performances improve before they shell out such big money to keep him.
