Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are furious with suggestions that Arsene Wenger will not add a world-class striker to his squad in January.
They strongly believe that a renowned centre-forward can fire them to the Premier League title but The Daily Express quote chief scout Brian McDermott as stating it’s extremely unlikely such a player will be added in January.
“Generally it’s a good squad. He signed a fantastic goalkeeper. The manager won’t spend unless he thinks its absolutely necessary.”
“The scouting structure at Arsenal is phenomenal. We all know who the top strikers in the world are. Can you get them to come? They won’t be available in January that’s an absolute certainty.”
With Theo Walcott currently injured, and Danny Welbeck out until the New Year, fans at the bar are relying on Olivier Giroud to fire them to glory in the coming weeks and, despite being on strong form, they’re not confident the French striker can do that.
