Arsenal fans are looking a little bit edgy here in the Football Transfer Tavern after they hear a claim from the Daily Mail.

The publication seem to think that come New Years Day, Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna will begin considering offers from other clubs.

As we know, the French defender is free to talk to other clubs from the turn of the year, with his contract set to run down.

It had been thought that the player was willing to commit his long-term future to Arsenal and sign a new deal with the Gunners.

However, we are now hearing news that he could well be set to at least consider offers from other clubs before that long-term new deal is official and this of course would put Arsene Wenger and his men in a bit of a tricky situation.

After seeing the player reject a 12 month extension, Arsenal put a two-and-a-half year extension on the table which would have taken him through until 2016, yet that does not seem to be what Sagna wants either.

As one of our rather fragile punters quips, not only does he and his fellow Gunners fans have to worry about their heads after indulging in rather too much festive cheer on Christmas day, but they also now need to worry about the future of their first choice right back!
