Arsene Wenger is the talk of the Football Transfer Tavern and it is all down to Metro who report that the Arsenal boss was not only quite upbeat about the transfer market but was also very clear about the future of one of his forwards to boot.

When speaking about players that could potentially arrive at Emirates Stadium, the Frenchman was positive and noted: “There’s a need there. If the right opportunity comes we will do it.”

Wenger was also asked about German forward Lukas Podolski who has been heavily linked with Inter Milan in recent weeks yet it seems that a move will not be happening. He claimed: “I want and hope he stays.

“That is a joke. Inter Milan is not serious.”

As our regulars note, we do not think that the Gunners will be bringing in any big names this winter with Wenger more cautious than most in transfer markets.
