Arsenal are said to be lining up a move for Ajax’s Christian Eriksen, amid speculation that Serie A giants AC Milan have already made an opening offer of £9m for the starlet.
The Eredivisie side are currently experiencing financial problems, and have been left with little choice but to sell some of their prized assets; likely departures are sought-after striker, Luis Suarez, and 18-year-old Eriksen.
Already a Danish international with 9 caps to his name, Eriksen’s talents have seen him dubbed the “new Dennis Bergkamp”; coincidentally, the former Arsenal legend is currently a member of the Ajax coaching staff, and Arsene Wenger hopes this will give him the edge in the race for Eriksen’s signature.
It’s not hard to imagine what Bergkamp’s advice to his young compatriot would be..!
However, Milan will not give up on Eriksen easily, and Ajax are keeping their fingers crossed for a bidding war to break out between the two European heavyweights.
Arsenal are more than capable of matching Milan financially, although we all know Wenger will not be held to ransom for any transfer target.
