Manchester United fans are relieved to hear in the Mirror that Aston Villa are set to agree a fee with United to make Tom Cleverley’s move permanent.

Punters always saw him as a scapegoat when he was at Old Trafford but they are glad to hear that he is a regular in Paul Lambert’s side.

The 25-year-old has had an unbelievable amount of stick and it’s impressive that he has managed to shake that off his shoulders and continue with his career.

Villa will look to tie up the £7.5m deal swiftly in January as they don’t need any more unwanted distractions following departure of Roy Keane.

Another reason why Lambert will want to get the deal done and dusted quickly is because his contract runs out at United in the summer, so he is open to talk to clubs abroad.

But Lambert has had to battle with his board, who would prefer to delay the permanent move until the summer and sign him on a free.
