Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz has spoken about his commitment to the cause in trying to help the Midlands outfit remain in the Premier League.
The Brazilian, who is valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, moved to Villa Park last summer after spells with Manchester City and Spanish side Girona, and he has since gone on to establish himself as a key player for Dean Smith’s side, making 31 appearances in the Premier League.
Over the course of the campaign he has an average rating of 6.56 out of ten for his performances, showing that whilst he hasn’t been bad he hasn’t really been anything special either.
With Villa sat in the relegation zone at the present time, Thursday evening’s game with Manchester United is a must-win for Dean Smith’s side and Luiz’s latest comments in an interview with Sky Sports have been nothing but positive, indicating that he is happy at the club despite their struggles.
“I have a four-year contract with Aston Villa,” he said.
“And my objective is to continue here, and to make history with the club that opened the door for me. Right now, my goal is to drag this team out of trouble, and to keep them in the Premier League.”
