Aston Villa have been in contact with Crystal Palace to discuss whether there is a possibility that they could sign Christian Benteke this month, that is according to a report from the Telegraph.

The report suggests that Villa would be keen on a loan move, but that Roy Hodgson’s side would only be interested in selling the 29-year-old at this stage.
The Belgian of course previously played for the Villans between 2012-15 and he was a prolific goal scorer during his time at Villa Park, netting 49 times in 101 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt).
Since leaving, he has lost the goal scoring touch however. At Liverpool, he bagged just 10 times in 42 appearances, whilst at Palace he has just 21 goals in 106 appearances (Transfermarkt).
This season he has failed to score at all in 15 games for the Eagles (Transfermarkt) and has fallen behind Jordan Ayew in the pecking order and therefore may be able to leave.
Villa are actively looking for a striker to replace Wesley who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with injury (Independent), with Jonathan Kodjia now their only fit forward and he has failed to score in the league so far this term (Transfermarkt).
However, their fans are divided over whether or not they should bring back Benteke. Some want him to return due to how well he did for them in his first spell, but others aren’t as keen due to his poor recent record in front of goal.
