A lot of Aston Villa fans can not understand how Leicester City was given a penalty in their 4-0 victory against the Villans last night.
Leicester were winning 1-0 when referee Michael Oliver gave the Foxes the chance to double the lead after he judged Tyrone Mings to have handballed the ball following a cross from Harvey Barnes (BBC Sport).
It was unorthodox defending from the England centre-back but replays looked to have shown that the ball hit Mings’ shoulder and not his arm. VAR checked the decision but the penalty was given, with Jamie Vardy, who had only been on the pitch for four minutes, scoring from the spot.
Many Fans of Villa went to vent their frustrations after the game on VAR with one comparing the decision last night to an incident when Villa played Arsenal and the ball hit Sokratis in the penalty box in a similar place to where the ball hit Mings last night. Another called the officiating an ‘absolute joke.’
