Plenty of Aston Villa fans were delighted with defender Matty Cash despite their side falling short against Leeds United on Friday night.
Dean Smith’s side had the opportunity to go top of the Premier League table and maintain their 100% record. But Marcelo Bielsa’s side, and Patrick Bamford in particular, had other ideas.
Despite the defeat, the Holte End faithful found positives that they could take forward in their right-back, who arrived at the club from Nottingham Forest for £16m in the summer and has started every game for Smith so far this season.
Smith described Cash as “one of England’s brightest young prospects” (via VillaTV) and could be in a position where he is attracting the attention of Gareth Southgate soon if he continues to perform at a similar level.
