Aston Villa: Fans gush over Orjan Nyland’s Carabao Cup semi-final performance

Plenty of Aston Villa fans have been left gushing over Orjan Nyland’s performance in the club’s 2-1 (3-2 agg) Carabao Cup semi-final win against Leicester City last night.

The Villans have booked their ticket to Wembley, where they will play either Manchester City or Manchester United, after winning the second leg against Brendan Rodgers’ men — and they have Nyland largely to thank.

The 29-year-old put in an inspired performance to supplement Trezeguet’s winning goal, with one supporter dubbing him as a “hero” after the game. On the night, according to WhoScored, he made an impressive five saves in a display that could put some real pressure on Pepe Reina for that No.1 spot.

The Spaniard was brought in earlier this month following Tom Heaton’s knee injury but, if last night is anything to go by, he could have a fight on his hands following Nyland’s heroics.
