Aston Villa may have suffered a 3-2 defeat against Arsenal at the weekend, but that hasn’t stopped several fans from praising one player’s performance at the Emirates.
Egyptian winger Trezeguet returned to the side after serving a one-match suspension for a red card against Crystal Palace, and produced an excellent display in North London.
The 24-year-old, who joined Villa from Kasimpasa for £8.75 million in the summer, was a constant threat to the Arsenal defence. His pace and skill was causing all sorts of problems, particularly to Gunners left-back Sead Kolasinac who didn’t seem to know how to stop him.
Whilst he didn’t manage to grab a goal or an assist, he did manage to make two key passes, complete three dribbles and have two shots at goal (via WhoScored).
It wasn’t just his attacking talents that were on show either. When Villa were out of possession he was working hard to put the Arsenal players under pressure and win the ball back for his team.
In fact, it was only when he was replaced by Ahmed Elmohamady that Dean Smith’s side lost their way and began to invite pressure. At the time of his withdrawal Villa were 2-1 up, going on to concede two goals to lose the match in his absence.
