Aston Villa fans were buzzing yesterday as they made a return to winning ways against a tough Swansea City side. Dean Smith’s first game at Villa Park was a successful one, the club won 1-0 thanks to a Tammy Abraham goal and will be buzzing to get three points, although it was the performance of John McGinn that got the fans excited.

John McGinn is a great player and has hit the ground running at Villa Park. In his 11 games for his new club, in the Championship, he’s bagged himself a goal and three assists, with his goal being an absolute thunderbolt that was right out of the top drawer. After today the fans will be expecting a lot more from the Scottish midfielder seeing as he dominated the midfield against the Swans on a tough afternoon yesterday.
Villa will be looking to back on track and try to go one better than last season’s play-off final defeat. With the Championship being as tight as it is, though, it won’t take long for McGinn and co to rise from 13th and into the top six. Norwich are currently occupying 6th place and the Villains are only three points off of them, meaning that in a few weeks time Dean Smith could easily have his side back in the title race.
