Since his arrival on-loan from Lille, Anwar El Ghazi has been a superb option at Villa Park and Dean Smith has utilised him well. His goal return of four in eight in the Championshp is more than impressive from the wing, and yesterday after a poor showing he wasn’t afraid to come out and admit just that, something that the fans loved.
Not my best game.. but still unbeaten 7 games in a row. Thanks for the support @AVFCOfficial fans! See you next week.

Footballers can often be accused of not caring about the clubs which they play for, and Aston Villa fans have experieced that first-hand from the days of Joleon Lescott. However, El Ghazi is not that type of player, and the fact that he was big enough to come out after his subpar display against Stoke and ackowledge his display whilst thanking the fans has gone a long way with the Villains.
The 23-year-old winger has all the talent in the world and he’s just one of a number of talented young players to have come through at Ajax who’s currently plying his trade in Europe. Villa Park is only his temporary home and he’ll be returning to Ligue 1 to his parent club Lille in the summer, but if he can keep up his performances and continue to win the fans over then he could find himself being signed up permanently.

You have set the bar high with your recent performances. Definitely below it today but am sure you will be giving plenty of full backs nightmares between now and the end of the season. You look a class above. UTV

Aston Villa fans everywhere will love their on-loan Dutchman even more for his post-match tweet and will hope he does return to his usual levels when they host Leeds United next Sunday.
